When it comes to finding media — whether you’re building a reel, searching for a specific style or technique or managing a project — timing is everything. We want to help you find what you’re looking for faster, so you can get back to doing what’s important — like running your company, pitching your talent, delivering client work, etc.

To do this, we introduced To make finding media easier, we introduced a highly-requested feature we call Enhanced Tagging.

What does it do?

Enhanced Tagging lets you see all of the tags assigned to your media in the Media Library, Reel Creator and Projects, all from a single drop down menu. You can even see the Tags associated with each category, for even more precise organization. It provides a quick, visual roadmap of all the keywords and terms you’ve used to identify your media.

How does it work?

It’s simple. Just select the Tags drop down from the search bar, then select the tags you want to filter by. Remove a tag by simply deselecting it.

Don’t see any Tags? That’s because you haven’t tagged any media. Follow these instructions and you’ll be up and taggin’ in no time.

Want to limit certain tags to specific categories? Easy-peasy. Make sure “Managed Tagging” is turned on. Then select a Category from the drop down menu, then select the Tag drop down menu, and voila!

What’s the difference between Managed Tagging versus regular ole Tagging, and why does it matter?

Managed Tagging (recommended) restricts tags to specific categories, which prevents duplicate tags, misspelling of tags and the random tagging of media. While tagging media you choose from a pool of tags that you’ve predefined, rather than using a free form method.

Free Form Tagging, btw, allows free form entry of any tag to a piece of media, regardless of category, so you can still make up tags as you go along. It’s all part of our ongoing effort to make Simian more indispensable!
